WORLD MALARIA DAY, 2025
Let Us Reinvest Our Resources Now to End Malaria in Our Time
Theme: “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,
Partners from government, civil society, the private sector, and development organizations,
Our tireless health workers, media professionals, and community champions,
Good day to you all.
It is with a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you to this important day, as we join the global community in marking the 2025 World Malaria Day.
This year’s theme – “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite” is not just a slogan. It is a call to action. A bold declaration that the power to end malaria is in our hands, if we choose to act with urgency, unity, and unwavering commitment.
Malaria has remained one of the most persistent public health challenges in Nigeria, claiming precious lives, stalling productivity, and placing a heavy burden on our health system. But we must remember malaria is preventable, treatable, and above all, beatable.
As Chairman of the Nigeria End Malaria Council, I am here not just to speak, but to reaffirm our commitment to this fight and to challenge us all to go further.
To “Reinvest” means we must recommit resources – financial, technical, and political. We call on our government at all levels to scale up domestic funding. We call on the private sector to deepen their engagement. And we call on development partners to continue their vital support, with a focus on sustainability.
To “Reimagine” means we must rethink our strategies. The fight against malaria must go beyond nets and medicines. We must embrace innovation – digital tools, data-driven approaches, community-centered solutions, and integration with other health and development priorities.
To “Reignite” means we must renew our passion and urgency. We cannot be complacent. The disease won’t rest, so neither can we. We must reignite community participation, policy attention, and the drive to finish what we started.
To our health workers and community volunteers – you are the heart of this fight. To our CSOs and faith-based organizations – you are the conscience of our communities. To our media – you are the voice that keeps this issue alive in the public eye.
Ending malaria is not the job of one sector or one agency – it is a shared mission, and it must be driven by shared accountability. Let us use this moment to ask the hard questions, to listen actively, and to commit to solutions that are practical, inclusive, and scalable. Let our words today lead to meaningful action.
Let us remember that malaria does not wait. Neither should we.
Together, let’s reinvest, reimagine, and reignite—for a malaria-free Nigeria.
Thank you, and may our collective efforts bear lasting fruit.
